Revelation 13 Part 1 - Whose Mark Do You Bear?
Pastor Wes Denham
Continuing his verse-by-verse journey through Revelation, Pastor Wes Denham unpacks Revelation 13:1–10, where the Apostle John sees a terrifying beast rising out of the sea with seven heads, ten horns, and ten crowns. Set in the middle of the seven-year Tribulation, this passage introduces the Antichrist—the man of sin empowered directly by the dragon, Satan himself. Pastor Wes emphasizes that John is recording symbolic visions pointing to a coming reality, and that believers today must understand who this counterfeit figure truly is before he steps onto the world stage.
Pastor Wes draws on Scripture to interpret Scripture—explaining that the “sea” represents nations, the seven heads signify complete power, and the ten crowns point to a coming ten-nation confederacy. Cross-referencing 2 Thessalonians 2:3–4, he describes how the Antichrist will exalt himself in the rebuilt third temple, declaring himself God after three and a half years of false peace. Pastor Wes underscores that this man will not appear as an obvious villain but as a counterfeit Jesus—religious, intelligent, and magnetic—whom the world will marvel at and worship alongside the dragon who empowers him.
Drawing from 1 John 2 and Revelation 17, Pastor Wes warns that the spirit of antichrist is already at work through systems that deny the Son—citing the doctrines of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormonism, and Islam’s awaited twelfth imam. He cautions that the apostate harlot of Revelation 17 will ride the beast, meaning compromised churches will lead the charge against faithful believers. Recalling Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s stand against Hitler and Richard Wurmbrand’s testimony from prison, Pastor Wes calls the church to refuse compromise—Jesus must be Lord of all or not at all.
Teaching through Revelation 13:1–10, Pastor Wes Denham introduces the Antichrist—a counterfeit Jesus empowered by the dragon to rule for 42 months during the Tribulation. He exposes the false christs already at work through cults and competing religions, warns that compromised churches will ride the beast of Revelation 17, and calls believers to an uncompromising faith where Jesus is Lord of all or not at all.
