📖 Focus of the Week & High School Devo
We’re continuing our deep dive into the birth of Christ this December. Last week, we unpacked the intertestamental period and scratched the surface of the Messiah’s announcement. This week, we’ll be focusing on the angelic announcement and the birth of Jesus Himself—and we’ll begin looking at what Scripture reveals about His early years.
The Jews were expecting a conquering political Messiah, largely shaped by generations of oppression under Babylon, Persia, Greece, and finally Rome. Jesus’ arrival as a humble child was both unexpected and perfectly in line with God’s redemptive plan. The King had come, but not as anyone imagined.
High school devo will explore the second half of 1 Samuel 17—David defeats Goliath, and we’ll focus on God’s deliverance, boldness rooted in faith, and how God uses the unexpected to accomplish His purpose.

We need youth and adults to help plan games, serve snacks, pray, lead, and encourage one another. There’s a place for everyone to serve in Calvary Youth!

• High School Devotional – Wednesdays, 4:30–5:30 PM
• Youth Group – Wednesdays, 6:00–8:00 PM
• 🍽️ On the first Wednesday of every month, we share a meal together before youth group!
